One time I had a really bad strep throat, and I coughed up blood and phlegm. But, other than that, coughing up blood itself is not a good sign. After you read the answers to your question, I suggest you schedule an appointment with your doctor. I'm not saying you have this, but people cough up blood when they have cystic fibrosis. if you're coughing up blood you need to seek urgent medical attention, this can be caused by several types of illness, one of the main ones on the increase once again being tuberculosis (consumption) it can also be caused by (as my wife experienced last year) a pulminary embolism a blood clot on the lung which if left untreated can be fatal, and is also a sign of other possible blood clotting ailments such as DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) my advice, if i were you go to an ER right now

varacies-(esophagal bleeding due to liver disease.)

seek emergency care asap! urgent care is desired in this circumstance as varacies are life threatening.

other issues are lung disease, ulcer.
