Or who suffer from mental illness, and let's say for arguements sake they kill thenselves. Is your God going to condemn them too, because they didn't choose him?
That is supposing they weren't Christian to begin with, or what about those of them who are/were and couldn't deal with what this life has/had to offer?

Suspendor of Disbelief.....You to could learn a lesson about being merciful. You have No clue why I asked this question, so don't judge me.
I have a family member who has suffered from a mental disorder for a long time who has just committed suicide, and there are family members arguing over weather or not she'll burn in Hell!

If my God condems those people, then he wasn't my God to begin with.

First of all we must understand that Christ died for all the sins of all men of all time once and for all... all except one sin, which is the sin of rejection of Him as Savior. Other than that, if its a sin, Christ has already died for it, whether the sinner believes it or not. Every single soul in hell will be there for one reason only: one way or another he/she rejected the Savior (Hebrews 10:12; Matthew 12:31).
How, when, where, or by what means, and at what level the Lord makes himself known to mankind is a mystery. We can be sure he does (John 1:9) because it is not his will that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). Therefore, our conclusion is that mankind will finally be accountable only for the highest level of knowledge of the Lord that they happen to have when they die. A mentally disabled person could hardly be expected to have a very high level of knowledge of Him... then again, who really knows? Only the Lord. The same is true of a very young child; or an aborted child. Their sins are not an issue because of the finished work of the Cross. They will automatically open their eyes upon the Lord Jesus Christ at the instant of death.
Hey ! What a wonderful salvation this is ! \o/ < me praising God !

I really like your question. Why, because it's going to trip up a lot of people. But, onwards! (hee hee)
Firstly, allow me to quote:
"My ways are NOT your ways"
-- This is a warning, do not think that you know everything or can predict what the LORD YOUR GOD will do or does.
But to the point of your question, I really do not know - I trust in his judgment. Our perception of GOD is imperfect - as is likely to be since we are in a fallen state.
You seem to be looking to indict the faith rather than looking through the eyes of your heart. Which I find somewhat concerning - but I'll table that in the interests of expediency.
Understand this about condemnation; GOD is perfect and he does not "condemn" as you put it - he does give you the power to choose. His way, or the highway. If someone is mentally handicapped - they would likely fall into to the 'innocents' catagory; i.e.: they really had no free will to speak of and therefore did not have the capacity to choose. I think this is covered by grace. I am not an authority, however - that would be my best stab at your query.

After armegeddon Satan will be hurled into the abyss, Revelation 20:3, for a thousand years. The resurrection will take place tombs will be opened up the sea will give up those in it. We will be working towards perfection. The blind will see, missing limbs will be replaced, those with mental illness won't be sick any longer.
We can't judge. The scriptures do say there will be a resurrection of both the righetous and the unrighteous. Acts 24;15

Well, mentally disabled people can't understand scripture therefore they have not been warned about sin and cannot be blamed for committing them.
Mentally ill is a fuzzy term but i think i know what youre getting at. They were simply not able to cope with life and instead of deciding to turn to sins like drugs or whores or crime to help with their life, they decided to end it. This might be considered an act of war, a war against ones self, and not murder if the person thinks that THEY are the problem and not something else.

#1 He is all merciful, all knowing and all loving. At the same time we can never know the entire truth about God because we can only grab a small part of His infiniteness. That is why there are atheists and such.
#2 To go to Hell you should have been bad enough to deserve it.
A person who lacks reason may probably be excused from going to Hell because he cannot tell right from wrong.
You need full judgment, full consent, and must have done some sin of great gravity to go to Hell (If you are truly sorry for your sins then there is no need for you to go to Hell).

With love and understanding of course. Do you think God so cruel as to reject someone who does not have the mental capacity to understand what they do is harmful?
I know the Church has said that suicides is an unforgivable sin, but I have to agree with other poster's that most suicidal people are mentally unstable to begin with.
What I hope and pray for such people is a wholeness in Heaven, where their handicap is removed :)

I believe that God is good, and fair. He will not condemn someone who hasn't had the ability to know him. I wouldn't be fair. What about the people that live in far nations where they are never introduced to God or who he is. The interesting this is though that a lot of people who think they don't know God, really do, they just have the wrong idea about him, or were never told about him

Christ Jesus will deal with every single person through Love.
Those who consciously reject Him will suffer the consequences.
Those who cannot consciously make that decision due to mental illness (God will be the Judge) will spend eternity in heaven with our Lord and Savior. Only God knows each persons destiny.
Praise The Holy Lamb Of God !!
God Bless You and may He give you His peace.

What makes you think that mental illness has anything to do with the spirit of a person? Although the physical body may (will) die, GOD is spirit and it is the spirit which is most important.
This is the same, whether a person has what we perceive to be full mental capacity or not. We all shall be judged by what is within us spiritually rather than what our physical makeup might be.

God is loving and merciful.
King David, writer of the Psalms, suffered from depression.
God understands us - even when we do not understand this life.
He is the creator - of the healthy and the sick. .
Buttercup - I had a friend from church whom I have known for about 7 years. She was bi-polar. She was a believer, but life just got too overwhelming for her...She just committed suicide. I believe that God still loves her, and that He understands her pain and the suffering she had while here. I believe she is with Him, and her struggle is over.
