I have been trying to figure out how to install this software that I got and I am STILL having issues understanding it. If anyone could shed some light on this, I would Greatly Appreciate it.Thanks!

Below are the current instructions that I am trying to figure out. There is more but for now I am stuck on numbers 3-6. I dont know what any of it is.

This software is to create a Members Site, and if you can help me I will give you the web pages that it came from if that will help. :)

To install MMS yourself follow these instructions.

1 Unzip the file Multiple_membership.zip

2 Upload all files and folders in the programming folder to your server

3 Assign 777 permissions to config.php file.

4 Assign 777 permissions to install/iconfig.php file.

5 Create Database from your Hosting Control panel.

6 Run the Install script to configure your database at www.yourdomain.com/install

speak slow and in long drawn out words. lol just kidding but please keep it simple

Okay, I am updating this question.

Instead of answering the question I just asked, here is a new one. Will any of you please just work with me privately on this. I can not even understand the answers. lol. The answers seem to lead me to more questions. lol.

I am willing to barter or pay for your time.
JUST PLEASE PLEASE WORK WITH ME PRIVATELY OFF OF THIS SYSTEM.
I have got to Speak with someone, this is just not working for me.

Please email me with details on how you would like to do this :)

Thank you...

elentophanes,
Yes that is what I purchased. I wanted it in order to create the members site and it comes with an automatic affiliate program built in, which is something that I wanted to establish. I am not aware of the MLM thing that you are talking about with the software? I am aware and familiar with MLM and I would really love to know more of what you are talking about as far as the software being an MLM.

I found it through Click Bank so I know I can get a refund if it turns out to be a bad situation.

Would you please contact me and I will pay you for your time? magicalchange@yahoo.com

Thanks!
Peace, Laurie

Its a bit hard to help you in details without knowing the SW you are trying to install - can you update your question with the SW and the website you got it from.

However - here goes. I am guessing that you are trying to setup a website for members of a club or society. I am also guessing that you are trying to get Apache (the web server) plus PHP - to run scripts on your webpage plus a database (SQL ?)

777 permissions are linux instructions - this is telling you to set the folder so that everyone can read write and execute files. Are you trying to setup on a linux computer - if you are thinking of a windows computer you have the wrong SW. generally you should not need to set 777 permissions ona computer - as it allows users to do things that they should not. you should be able to run the SW in safe mode.
the config.php file is required to enable the HTML scripting language to run (called PHP).

the usual order is to set up PHP, setup apache and then the database.

EDIT-

i did some more research - is this the SW you are installing ? http://www.multiplemembershipsoftware.com/
if so it runs on linux with php4 and mysql.
if you are not already familiar with these you should contact the company for support or a refund. By the way - this looks like a multiple level marketing scheme - (used to be called pyramid schemes) - i hope you know what you are getting into.

EDIT-
Hi magicalchange - sorry - I'm not in a position to do paid consulting for you. This could be the kind of task that a skilled teen who knows how to setup linux servers and who lives in your local area could do for you.
As to MLM - those initials appeared on the website for the SW - maybe I misinterpreted what they meant. However - i did find links to this site from other possible MLM sites.

"3 Assign 777 permissions to config.php file."

The 777 refers to the read, write, execute permissions.
In Unix you would type "chmod 777 config.php"

I'm not sure what the hosting control panel you are referring to so i can't comment.

To run your install script your just type the filename.
