I checked it in an online translator and it didn't make any sense to me....

"Sac à puces" is used in French (not really derogatorily, more as a term of endearment) to refer to a dog usually but could also be a cat.
"Un sac" means a bag and une puce is "a flea" so "Un sac à puces" means "A bag of fleas" probably because fleas can live as parasites on dogs unfortunately and therefore dogs carry them, maybe the reason for the choice of the word "sac"= bag.

Also, "Sac à puces" is the name of a recently famous comic book about a Francophone family and a dog the little girl falls in love with but that unfortunately her family rejects.
