When my dogs are afraid of storms, they usually pant very heavy, look nervous, shiver and shake a bit, and will pace around trying to find a safe place to hide. My old dog used to squeeze behind the couch to hide! If your dog was sick from ingesting antifreeze, she would be vomiting and be awefully sick.

I would think that it's just the storm. Some dogs shake or hide, while others come barreling through the screen door to get away from the noise (German Sheppard I know of ,LOL).
I don't think a little bit of antifreeze should harm your dog (it depends on the weight but I'm sure it's over a pound), make sure she has plenty of water on hand. If it doesn't go away after the storm or she is lethargic at any time, I'd phone a local animal hospital for more help.

The shakining and panting is appropriate.. I have an outside Aussie Shepard that cant stand thunder or gunshots.. thats what he always when he comes into the house (and he dosent even like indoors except in those cases).. My old school Pom(30 lbs which is an inside dog on the other hand busts his *** to go thru his dog door to attack either sound and get to them..(which is why I put up chicken wire on the fence.. he can, will, and does bite any thing that pisses him off.. including me sometimes LOL (his an Idiot.. he wants to tangle with the cyotes & mountain lions out here out here too ) I think he can take a cyote or 2.. I'm pretty sure he'd be a ordurve for a cougar...

If there is any risk that she may have ingested antifreeze, you should have her checked by a vet ASAP. It can be fatal.

Some dogs express anxiety with thunderstorms. The best thing to do is not to try and comfort her, but to act calm and normal around her, letting her know that you aren't worried about it. Petting and comforting actually reinforces their anxiety about the storm.

Mine shake like they are shivering and pant like crazy when a storm comes. At least they used to- go to the vet and get some 25mg Acepromazine. When a storm comes give pup 1/4 of a tablet in a treat. DON'T give him the whole pill! It won't kill him, but you don't want pup in a coma, just chilled out a little. After two or three times, pup will realize that the storm won't hurt him and he won't need tranking. Worked three dogs in a row.

My dogs get scared around thunder and lightening. They shake and do pant alot. They say not to pet them, but I do and it does seem to help. My one dog, forgets the fear if I say go get your baby. I start playing with him and his toy and he pulls right out of it. As for the anti-freeze. If you suspect your dog licked some, have it checked by a Vet. It can be deadly.. They say to put a tape on with a storm once in a day time. So your dog will get use to the sound, and eventually he/she won't have fears anymore. I hope this helps.. good luck!

I had a Weimaraner that would go inside of the bathtub and "hide" and another one that would get between the bed and the wall. This way they can't see the lightening that ususally comes with the storm. I also had a Chow-mix that would pant and pace, heavy breath and shake.

Try baby asprin--that helped control the Chow.

Please call a vet asap, to make sure about the antifreeze. As for fear of a storm, they act scared. Shaking, nervous, wanting to hide, or stay by your side. Their ears can go back at the sound of the thunder, etc. To reassure you, please call the vet, just to make sure. Or maybe, poison control. Take care.

I have a min-pin and she does the same thing as your sharpei, the shaking and panting and she also lightly whines when it's storming.
