hog hunting?

i heard a story form a buddy of mine of a few doegs he heard of for hog hunting... he described them as really small dogs, with very long interlocking teeth that tend to clamp onto the hog's ears when they hunt them, i rmemeber the name had the word jack in it... but it wasnt a jack russel terrier... anyone know waht tehy are?

Most outfitters that use dogs for hunting are a breed called Cathoulas, also know as leopard dogs.

I saw a hunting show awhile back on TV and yes , they were hunting hogs with Jack Russel Terriers. They were a bigger breed size then what you might see at your dog shows but Jack Russel's none the less. Man they were tuff , fierce little hunters!!

They could have been Decker terriers or Jack Decker crosses or even Jack Russel, Patterdale cross terriers. All of the above have been used for quite some time as hunting dogs.

Calahoula hog dog. Leapord cur, small size American pitt, Airdale border collie crossed is my pick because they will heal the hog and will stay away from his head in tern the hog will stay at bay and the dog will just run around in circles staying away from the hogs tusks, which if a hog dog is a head hunter he will have a short life.

Don't know, hog dog hunting is real popular in East Texas. They used a dog called a black mouth kur. It was a medium sized dog. They looked like mutts to me.

um....wel i live like way out in tha country and i dont think that i remember anything that we use for hunting that has a jack in it.um....go to ask.com and put in wat u think it mite be,srry i couldnt help though,i love to hog hunt it is so much fun!!!!and we usually use either hound dogs or blue healers,there are more but i dont really remember any of them.
