What event in the past did God give the world a foretaste of what He will do on the day that Christ returns?

Anybody know? I'm curious to know if we have experienced that event in today's world.

The Bible says that the return of Christ will be like the days of Noah.... people were eating and drinking, etc. back then and the flood waters took them totally by surprise. So it will be when Jesus returns. No one will know the day or the hour but every eye will see Him whether they are ready for His return or not.
