Well,
you can give up, feel sorry for yourself, ignore your parents, or you can admit that you're doing fine and try and make life
worth living.
Its up to you. Obviously, nobody giving a choice would ask for a disability but I know enough people with them that live full filling lives to know it is bunk to decide life here sucks etc.
Life is what you make it.
Good luck. I won't say its easy. Parents suck sometimes and I'm sure having a disability sucks sometimes too. Then again, lots of stuff sucks. Truth is there is always someone worse than you.
Take a day off, go downtown and see some of the people on the streets. Some are mentally ill. Some are able. Look at their empty stares as they ask for money.
Then go home, hug your parents for wanting better for you, appreciate your job as a "stepping stone" to better things and sit down and plan your goals.
Excuses are not going to help you much.

Things would depend on a lot of detail but in general....SSI technically means Social Security Income and is for people who first apply for SSDI (Social Security Disability Income) and are in need of immediate income while long term disability is being determined (at least that way in IL), People who are disabled and receiving benefits still can work up to a certain amount. Keep in mind though, if you are on SSDI and you are able to work any at all, they will re-access your ability to gain in working more. You cannot work any at all or be able to work any at all at the time you are applying for SSDI benefits. You will need at least 1 doctor to state that you have disability(s). You will need to meet the definition of disability under the government guidelines. Those are general things I learned. I am wondering about your age and other circumstances that may indicate that applying for disability is not your best option. You might want to see a counselor who can help you sort our your options.
