You'd have to be very careful not to hurt yourself.
However you're not likely to increase your either mass or speed more by using the weights when you shadow box. SB is about tightening and untightening muscles. To gain muscle mass use the weights separately.

Yes use a small 1kg in each hand. If you go heavier it will teach your muscles unnatural movements. Try 2 rounds with weights then 2 without, Should make you quicker. Or try using a resistance band behind your back, I find this actually works the muscle you use to throw a punch.

There are 2 differing schools on this idea... 1) It helps and should be done. 2) NEVER EVER USE WIEGHTS!!!
Personally I think they help with speed. However if you use them use light wieghts. 1 or 2 pounds only! Another alternative is to get some rubber resistance tubing, approxinmately 2ft long (depending on your size) and showdow box that way. (For an example of what I'm talking about go here... http://www.ringside.com/DETAIL.ASPX?ID=25261)
Personally I use both methods... Good luck!

I wouldn't do that... boxing with dumbells causes jerkiness...And jerkiness w/ weights is how you tear/injure muscles beyond repair.
You can put small dense weights in the bottom of your gloves...
Or just do more reps with the weights...

Wouldn't be recommended by an intelligent trainer or a doctor, but its an excellent idea if you want to damage your shoulder joints and possibly tear some ligaments, tendons, or muscles. Don't do it dude.

no, although when you take off the weights it feels like you punch fast. but that is only because you use so much engery holding it up and punching when you let it go you feel like your hands is light. but it's just feels that way because your use to the pressure of the weight your not punching faster. and muscle does not help punching power. fedor emieaneko is the world champ and he looks like a pills berry dough boy but that guy got some power punches.

i wouldn't.shadow sparring serves more than one purpose.and one of them is working on your technique and foot work.using the weights wont help that.theres better ways of increasing your speed and strength.just my opinion though.
