Try some breathing exercises. Yoga teaches some very good relaxation and breathing exercises. Why are you so agitated? Maybe it would help if you could see a counselor and talk to someone about this. If you can find the root of the problem then perhaps it will become more easy for you to deal with. When i was young i was very self conscience, but after i grew up i became more comfortable in my skin. You know it got to feeling more normal. I took a job in a hospital and worked with people and gradually lost myself in helping others for a while and discovered that i was no longer so self conscience. I have included 3 websites for breathing and one for some ideas on self help but really feel that good counseling would be more efficient. Make sure you check out the credentials and feel comfortable with the person. oh yes music is wonderful for calming as well.

I think Cognitive Behavior Therapy can be very helpful. You may want to talk to a therapist about your anxiety. Also, Lucinda Bassett has a great program called "Attacking Anxiety." You could google her name, or look up The Midwest Centre For Stress and Anxiety. Some people swear by her program, which is a set of tapes. If your anxiety gets too much, you may need to see a doctor or psychiatrist and get on a mild tranquilizer or other medication to help you through this. If you need meds, they will help with your anxiety and you will be able to concentrate better. Exercise and a healthy diet are helpful. But first of all, make an appointment with your GP. Good luck to you!

Soothing music and strenuous exercise are both very good. Try eliminating caffeine completely. Find someone who really needs help and can give nothing in return and help them. Being others-conscious will result in less self-consciousness. Take the Dale Carnegie Public Speaking course. Read the book of Proverbs in the Bible.
Get plenty of sleep.

Being nervous and super self conscious will lead to Anxiety disorder if you dont seek help now. Thats how it started for me. You need to talk with a Psych as soon as you can to avoid any further onset of this. You can try diet and excersize but sometimes that does not help depending on other variables or factors in your life.
God Bless you

Meditation, deep breathing, get out into nature where it is calm and peaceful. Exercise can also help you, it releases endorphins which will make you feel better. Why don't you read a book on it? Go to the library or book store and ask for books on Zen or meditation. That should help.

When I am experiencing this I have learned to use my mind to go outside of myself. I try to distance myself from the immediate feeling I am having by pulling back and trying to watch myself and what is going on, what I am doing, it is like I am watching a movie with me in it. Like I was feeling real anxious and upset, self conscious, I was driving my car. I just stepped away with my mind and watched my car with me in it going down the freeway,'
and then going into the job, walking in the hallway, sitting at my desk working, etc. It sounds kind of strange but i learned this in a Unity book I purchased. It helps me in the immediate situation to stop focusing on the anxiety or I call it breaking the chain.
hope this helps.
