If you want to learn 'Down command ' for you puppy here is what to do:
1. First find you puppy's favourite food treat (This is called food rewarding)
2. Get you puppy to sit on the ground
3. Place the treat in on the ground in your hand and say " DOWN" (AKA Lay down) and say good what ever you puppy's name is. Pat the puppy for good behaviour not BAD!
4. Please repeat Step 1-3 every day 4 20 Min's
( Don't over do this!)

She is jumping on you to get a higher "rank".
You are the "leader" of the "pack". The more attention you get from the leader the higher "rank" you get. (dogs opinion.)
Many people think of this as a greeting... but its most likely not.
If you want your puppy to learn DOWN. Start with sit.
After mastering SIT. Hold a dog treat under the head while in the SIT position. It might stand up and try taking it. Don't let it, only give the treat if they follow the DOWN command.
Praise them, give them the treat, and say "GOOD DOG" if they do something good, even if its only a couplle seconds.

If she is a large puppy a firm knee to the chest with a growl sounding No! Off! Small puppy a little pressure on her back toes with a growl sounding No!Off! A mean growl sound is respected by a young puppy because they learn that from their mothers if they are out of line as a pup. If she does anything you disapprove of, a deep throat growl will stop her and she will turn her attention to you then say no.

Well first make sure you have treats to reward her/him with. With my puppy i would take him to a room in the house where he would only pay attention to me. I would tell him down and make a gesture with my hand ( palm flat like i am pushing down on something). <

I do not recommend pushing or kneeing the dog off of you. They jump on you to get attention and they are still getting attention that way. Even if it's negative, it's still something. Ignore her. Fold your arms and walk away. As soon as she gets down, give her attention. It's very important that everyone in your home and everyone that meets her does the same thing. She'll start getting the idea that the way to get attention is to stay down. If that's not working, use a squirt bottle with a firm, "No, Off, or Down". As soon as she's down, give her lots of attention again. I would also recommend training classes that use positive reinforcement, Like Petsmart.

Try using the word "OFF". When she starts to rear up, firmly command "OFF" (kind of like a growl). Walk her on a leash that is long enough to just touch the ground when you're holding it. If she starts to jump, step on the leash and say "OFF". Sort of creates a barrier and a self correction (she doesn't know what's stopping her from jumping, just that she's given a firm "NO" and for some reason she can't). Once in a while, just stop, like you're looking around. This way you aren't encouraging her to jump just to correct her. If she jumps, step on the leash. You can even stop and step on the leash before she has a chance to react. Just make sure where you step on the leash she can still stand or sit comfortably.

You might have to hook a leash to her collar in the house and let it drag on the floor. If she comes up to you and starts to jump, step on the leash and again "OFF".

i have a shih tzu and for a long time he did that i talked to a trainer friend and he advised to push on the dogs butt making it go to the floor as you are saying down hold it there for around 4 to 6 seconds and keep saying down if the dog continues to stay down find a small treat continue to give him or her treats everytime they stay on their butt after around 2 weeks max they will learn and you no longer need to give them a treat because it will become expected behavior hope this helps if you have any other questions holler it helps having a trainer for a best friend lol

Well you point to the floor with your finger and say down and when she does give her a treat. Do this for a little bit every day .But dont always give the dog a treat or she or he wont want to stay down. Good luck!~!~!~

Keep her on a leash. When she tries to jump on people it won't work cause you are stepping on leash.Put her in a sit/stay..she will quickly learn what is expected of her.Always give praise.Good Luck.

It's all about repetition. 10 min. at a time 2 or 3 times a day. Being firm but not scary to it.
