I think I would be shocked and maybe a little afraid to see someone I love appear after their death but after the shock subsided I would try to find out what their reason to be there is.
I dreamed that my second husband came to me and told me he had just found out he had cancer when in reality he had died of heart failure. To me this was an affirmation that his death, although quick and a heart break, was preferable to a slow, painful death. There is a reason for someone to come back and I would have to find out what that reason is.

Association with departed souls is not healthy for spiritual developmwnt and also for your personal well being.
Howevver you need to first understand why are they coming to you. Is there something they need you to do for them so they can rest in peace. Is there any unfinished business thay need you to carry out?
If the soul appears in a calm and non threatening manner, speak to it and find out why it is coming to you. If it has specific purpose, you have to decide if you can carry it out or not. You need to clarify to the soul that once you have carried out its requests, the soul shall no longer come to you again. If you can't carry it out, inform the soul of your inability to do it and request it not to return again.
Some souls do not have any specific requests but are just wandering around looking for their families. In such instances, it is best to just ignore the souls. Tell them to go away and just igonre them.
Whatever it is do not be afraid. Be neutral towards them and they cant harm you in any way.
