"One who won't read books holds no advantage over one who can't read books." - Mark Twain
I said it to my niece in an effort to convince her to stay in school and earn her Masters Degree, because in her particular field of study, her potential earnings will increase almost ten-fold with a Masters. Her aunt, my sister-in-law, was attempting to tell her that college is over-rated, because she (the aunt) makes more money without a college degree than a lot of people who have a degree. So, I quoted Twain in an effort to convince her to stay in school and earn her MD. It pissed off the aunt, but I think it worked, since the niece has since applied to Med School.

I love all Confucius and Twain quotes..my all time favorites are
"It is easy to hate and it is difficult to love. This is how the whole scheme of things works. All good things are difficult to achieve; and bad things are very easy to get."
Einstein hung this quote on the wall of his office for 35 years..
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
