In our society today, there is absolutely a very large amount of children whom only wish, or dream that they could have a father. There are young men who get young girls pregnant and won't accept responsibility for their " Fun ". Well, that's plain immature.! The bad thing is, the girls just go along with it, not thinking about what it's gonna be like growing up without a Dad. I personally believe the Courts should totally enforce support. It's not that hard to do a test and find out who the Dad is. Sure would save $$$$$$ for the taxpayer, and maybe just might open a few eyes to the absolute Joy of being a Father and Parent. God Bless !!

Children need a father - maybe the father you got isn't the one you wanted but children need a dad.
Studies show that single mothers regardless of socio economic status have children with a less developed vocabulary . Children raised without fathers suffer from massively increased risk of jail and anti social behaviour not finishing school and being mal adjusted .
I know that certain extreme feminists might have you believe that the male gender on the whole is unnecessary but this is only a group of malcontents who feel cheated by society due in large part to their inability to succeed without the benefit of predjudical beliefs that unduly create favouritism towards themselves while creating hostility and fully embracing overly simplistic and dogmatic stereo -types.
It is very unfortunate that such stereo - types as created by these vocal fringes of society have managed to convince mainstream that all men are abusive neanderthals dragging their knuckles through the mud .
These oddly are the same group that in utter hypocrisy is angered by any stereo types levelled at women as a whole .
Again an ideal situation is for a child to have 2 parents represented by both genders - A mother and a father .
That said I can not make any comment on your particular father

Parents are very important. In the best of all worlds we'd all have supportive, loving parents capable of both nurturing us and giving boundaries. No parent is perfect of course. But is a FATHER necessary?
Evidence suggests that boys who grow up without a father are much more likely to be incarcerated, get caught up with drugs, gangs and all other kinds of nonsense. Does that make them necessary. No...some children can be raised without a father and turn out fine...but I believe the odds are stacked against a woman or man trying to raise a child (boy or girl) without a partner.
Children and including teens need supervision, and guidance as well as love.
I'm sorry your not having a great time with your father... love him anyway...odds are that he grew up in a home that was no picnic either and he may be doing the best he can.

I think kids do need a father because a mother cannot teach a kid everything. It is an equal balance. It sounds like this father is a bad influence and violent toward his kids. You need to either kick him out or pack up the kids and leave him.

ok, so your dad is not the ideal parent and that is a shame, have any of you kids tried telling him that you dont like some of the things he does, what about your mum, why isnt she stepping in and pointing out what he is doing wrong? in this case maybe you wouldnt lose much without a dad, although i guess you are learning what not to do as a parent but generally fathers play an important role in their childrens lives and should be part of it

alot of people growing up have had fathers that are not the best of influences. the hard things you go through in life will make you a stronger person and want you to be a better father when you have kids of your own. but if you really do hate it being there....then you should try to get emancipated...its a long process but if your determined then do it. but i say that you should stick it out...everything works out for the best.

No, a father isn't needed. Find a positive role model and pattern after them, but you don't need someone like that, in your life.
Don't let people use that stupid excuse, but he is your father, that is just crap. Anyone who can say that, wasn't hit with a baseball bat as a child. I was, and I told my father to make his choice, me or the booze, and he said he wouldn't quit the drinking, so I told him I never wanted to see him again. 25 years later he died, of throat cancer, because the booze wore him down. He made his choice, you can do the same. It's your life, live it well. No regrets, people will make their choices, good or bad

If the situation is dangerous for the children, then no - they do not need that kind of father! Please remove them from the situation immediately. Move back home with your parents if possible so that the children can have a stable family life with a more positive male role model (grandpa).

oh well, as long as there is love in the home.
He does pay the bills and groceries,so respect your father and tell him u love him. He will not be here forever and u will grow up too fast and think back and wish u went fishing with him or helped him with that equipment and tell him to not curse.
Be an inspiration to your father, tell him to crack the window
smoking or give him some gum.
