Nothing is better than running for burning calories and helping your cardio system. Run as fast and as far as you can. If you are just starting out, a mile will be a pretty big challenge, try to get where you can run 3 miles in under 27 minutes, once you can do that you can go to 10k or whatever you want. Add weight training also though, helps wit the running, makes you look better and muscle burns more calories just sitting there than fat....good luck.

definally running, im sorry but walking just dosent do it for me it dosen't get my heart rate up. im quite an athlet so i'd recommand at least 3 miles of running a day on a treadmill,( i run about 5-6 miles a day and sometimes take days off). well good luck but if you can't do that you should proubly start out with walking fast. And oh yeah before you run don't eat too much or you'll get terrifying side aches. Rember running or exercising never hurts you it just makes your body stronger and when you are running tell yourself how proud you'd be when you finish.

Walking is considered "better" exercise for someone who is overweight or not in running condition. Is easier on the joints and less likely to cause soreness and injury...the idea being you can keep exercising. You can increase distance and speed as conditioning improves. For someone healthy and in running condition, running is much more efficient exercise.

you burn more calories running.

if you haven't exercised in a while i would suggest walking something like 3 (or 2) miles a day. then you could incorporate a minute of jogging in there when the walk becomes less of a challenge. if you're consistent, and you get the ok from your doctor, you could be jogging those miles in a matter of months.

running burns more calories then walking, i reccommend timing yourself for 30 minutes for maximum results, minimum 20 min for ok results. do this 3 times aweek, no more then 30 minutes per session and you will lose about a 1 lb a week.

If you don't do either now, start with walking. It is really easy to overestimate your abilities or fitness level and take on too much too soon. Start with a Couch To 5K Program (both sites below have one), and start out gradually to prevent injury. Good luck!

Both or good but running's better. Either way at least 20 minutes a day is the ideal. It also releases nature's crack...endorphins! mmmm endorphins.
