Try his/her pediatrician. They have doctors they can refer you to.

Hi, Mom. If you don't already have a doctor for your child, I would look specifically for a pediatrician or an office of pediatricians rather than a general family practicioner. I probably wouldn't spend the money for a specialist at this point if your child's only issue is with ADD. A good pediatrician should be able to provide you with the treatment and care that you need at this point. Our son has ADHD, and we are looking to move him to a pediatrician because our family doctor sees so many types of patients (adults, kids and elderly) a day, and we would like someone who has more experience and specialization in dealing with childhood ADD/ADHD. I agree with the posters here that often word-of-mouth is a great tool. If you don't know of anyone that has an ADD/ADHD child, just ask around for a great pediatrician's office, then call them and ask which/ if one of their doctors has alot of experience treating ADD/ADHD children. This is how we got our most recent referral to an office, and as soon as I mentioned my son's diagnosis the receptionists told us which doctor there would be the best for us. If you try out a doctor and they are not a good fit for you/your child, you can always continue to look around. Good luck to you and your family; hope this helps!

Some important information on ADHD
ADHD is Highly Over diagnosed!!
Think about this fact:
After 20 minutes of inactivity one's brain quits learning effectively.
This makes sense when we look at kids who have to sit for at least an hour at a time (if not longer). They get agitated, move around, aren't able to focus. All these are symptoms of ADHD and yet can be explained simply by the fact I listed above.
Psychology website on ADHD, it's prevalance, and it's overdiagnosis.

Ask around. My oldest is ADD and we were referred to one doctor by his pediatrician and I hated him, hated his personality and hated the way he treated my son. We asked a bunch of other parents at school and the same name and practice kept coming up. I went back to my pediatrician and got a new referal and we are very happy now. He works with us and helps with ideas to keep my son on even keel and under control with the least meds possible.

my oldest daughter has adhd, we found that using a councilor and a pediatrician together makes a huge difference. we are not on meds, we use herbal supplements and regulate her diet to help control some of the issues and we use our councilor for help with behavior modification. we used meds for 4 years, for her they did not work. but that is not to say they would not work for your daughter. you can look in the phone book or talk to your child doctor that diagnosed the add and they can and should be able to give you recommendations and guidance

How old is you kid? Pay attention to him, that's all you need to do. ADD is just an excuse. Almost all normal kids should have a short attention span you know, THEY ARE KIDS!!
