That depends on exactly WHAT you want to do.
The more "fancies" you want or need the more complex the program.
Example: For simple notes use Notepad; next step up, with some formatting, use Wordpad. (Both are built-ins on ALL recent versions of windows.)
The NEXT step is to a wide choice of "better" word processors, including Wordperfect, Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, Abi, etc.; ALL of which need some type of practice or training to use efficiently.

Hi nofrogeater,
There are free programs like Open Office but I don't think there are any easier to use then Word. If you work with it you can learn it pretty easily.

Plenty, depending upon what your needs are. You can try Write, which is part of OpenOffice (available for download at http://www.openoffice.org/) or you could try AbiWord (available for free download at http://www.abisource.com/). Both are good.
