How do you open a coconut?

(Don't forget to first peel off the husk.) When I've seen it done, a nail was hit into the coconut with a hammer (just enough to go through to the middle). Then, the nail was pulled out. After that, pour the milk into a glass. Usually, nailing into the coconut causes a crack. Use the crack to open up the coconut the rest of the way.

if it is the yellow kind or red kind of coconut, you can open it easily with a scissor on the 3 holes at top of the coconut. If it is green coconut, you need a big knife to cut it.

OMG i just remembered this! I was like 10 and we bought a coconut from the store and i didnt know how to open it so I took it to the bathroom and threw it as hard as i could on the ground and coconut milk and pieces went EVERYWHERE!!!! well thats just about the only way i know how to open one, but I dont suggest trying it!!!!

Hammer a long nail into it.

It will eventually crack and break.

Make sure you hold the coconut steady.

I saw a guy on Suvivor whack one with a machete. Probably not the most ideal way but it is a way.
