the NYC marathon has open sign up - anyone can enter, you dont have to belong to any roadrunners club.

but, it is limited to the first 38,000 people. so sign up early to make sure you get in!

You don't have to qualify , just sign up and I have heard it fills up fast and they do have a limit.
