Melatonin is released by the Pineal gland (which is in the brain), and several other places in the body. The hypothalamus influences the production by Pineal gland, and reacts to information the retina receives.

This is why light and darkness can have an effect on ones sleep cycle, and change the body's circadian cycle.

The short answer to your question is no.

This is because melatonine exists in your skin not your head. It is what allows your skin to tan- eg pale people have less that mediterranian people. You either got loads or you dont. Cant change it. Its a protection mechanism in your skin to stop the sun from ruining it or getting cancer

Are you sure you you didnt mean seratonine? seratonine exists in your brain and can indeed be promoted by excercise. You need to do about 20 mins to get it going, the more energetic/sweat provoking the better.

Seratonine is what makes you feel good. You ave seratonine "feelers" in yor head- I think about 12 or 13 of them. They make you feel good when used.

Anti depressents work by dealing with any selected combination of these "feelers" to make a depressed person feel better - as the belief is a depressed person has too low a seratonine level.

Certain foods can also help get more seratonine flowing round your brain. These are carbohydrates. such as starchy foods- bread, pasta, rice, potatoe, and also sugars (also a type of carbohydrate) sugars such as fruits, raw or refined sugar and of course, chocolate.

Hope this helps? you could try google if you really are looking for melatonine increaseing methods- and no one can help

We are evolving to no longer have need for the Pineal gland. Cool, huh? And the pituitary, not the hypothalamus controls the Pineal gland.
