-- Surah Ya-Seen, chapter number 36, is considered the Heart of the Quran.
A Hadith says: "...the heart of the Quran is Surah Yaseen. Whoever reads Yaseen, Allah will write the reward of reading the Quran ten times for him" [as in, the blessings for reciting Ya-Seen are no less than the blessings for reciting the ENTIRE Quran TEN times!!! MaashaAllah!] (Tirmizi and Darmi). And "Whoever reads Surah Yaseen for the pleasure of Allah, his past sins will be forgiven. (Bahiqi)
-- Whatever task is not begun with "Bismillahi Rahamaani Raheem" ("in the name of God") remains incomplete and unfinished. And that's the very first verse of the Holy Quran: "In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful" (1:1).
-- Reciting and faithfully following and understanding Surah Mulk (number 67, "The Sovereignty, Controller") helps you get saved from the punishment of the grave, and some say from hellfire as well.
-- Reciting and faithfully following and understanding Surah Fajr (89, "The Dawn, Daybreak") brings inner peace and happiness into your soul if you recite it in the mornings. (I know so from personal experience as well.)
-- Reciting and understanding Surah Waaqia (number 56, "The Event, The Inevitable") brings blessings into your food, income, and such belongings. It also eliminates poverty/hunger from your family if you recite it after Isha prayer (before going to sleep).
-- Reciting and faithfully understanding Surah Faatiha (chapter 1, "The Opening") is a cure from every illness. (Darmi, Bahiqi)
-- Shaitan (the Devil/Satan) runs from the home in which Surah Baqrah (number 2, "The Cow") is recited and faithfully followed and understood. (Sahih Muslim)
-- Whoever memorizes the first ten ayahs/verses of Surah Kahf (18, "The Cave") will be saved the Dajjal. (Sahih Muslim)
-- Whoever recites Surah Kahf (ch. 18) on Fridays and faithfully follows and understands it, there will be Noor (divine light) brightened for him/her between two Fridays.
-- Reciting and understanding Surah Ikhlaas (ch. 112, "Sincerity") is equal to [reading] one third of the Quran.
-- Reciting and understanding Ayatul Kursi (verse 2:225, "verse of Chair") after every Fard Salah, or when you're in fear of something/someone, is extreeeemely helpful (I know this from personal experiences as well), and you're then protected from harm.
-- Reciting and understading Surah Muzammil (73, "The Enshrouded, Bundled up") 7 times daily practically forbids you form entering hellfire-- provided you don't JUST recit it but understand it and follow it as well.
-- Reciting and understanding Surah Nabaa (78, "The Tidings, The Announcement") after Asr prayer (the evening prayer) helps one die while doing something good/positive/Islamic. Or then, one dies while reciting something like, "In the name of God" on his/her deathbed, or "There's no god for worship besdies Allah (God)."
Ummmm.... There's sooo much more.... But I can't remember them at the moment. But I've noted that a lot of the times, the title of the Surah (chapter) of the Quran mean a lot; for instance, Surah Fatha (48, "Victory, Conquest") means victory for the reciter for whatever he/she may need to be victorious in. And I do it often during such times, and I've to say that most of the times, it HAS given me victory.
Peace and blessings of Allah be upon you and your loved ones!
PS: Simon dearie, the LETTERS of the Quran have symbolic meanings and spiritual significance. What, you're trying to claim that those LETTERS of God mean nothing just because "a, b, c,..." of the (English) Bible mean nothing to you Christians? Just because Christianity doesn't believe in any "heart" or most significant chapter/book of the Bible(s??) does NOT have to mean that other religious Scriptures are like that as well, ok? Some religious groups tend to take their religion more seriously than others do, and such people (e.g., Muslims) don't give a crap about what the others (e.g., non-Muslims) think of them!! Call us weird or barbaric or ancient for following our religion faithfully and strongly believing in our Holy Book, but we really, REALLY don't care, and we realize that religion is not the most important thing in your lives--even though it's supposed to be; it was in Jesus' life, wasn't it? Soooo.... Give me a break, and stop comparing and judging other religions based on what your religion may teach.

No true prophet will boast about his carnal sexuality, marry a nine year old, commit adultery with his wife's maid. Even uses 72 virgins as wives for Jihaddist - in a heaven ( if the same as Jews and Christisns does not have sexual exploitations and male chauvinisms anymore). In fact Christ said there will be no more marriages.
His brain seems to be concentrated on sex, maybe that is the heart of Quran.
What if - as all the facts prove, that Allah could be Satan - what happens to generations of Islamics who have been worshipping Satan instead of the true God whose Son is Jesus (also God).

Frankly, I've studied the Qua'ran and have yet to come across what's the "Heart" as you claim!?
To use your allegory, the main body of the Qua'ran seems to be the War that Mohammad waged to establish Islam there and Allah seems to have been very accomodating to Mohammad in allowing him everything he desired which seemed to suddenly come as a "Revelation"!?
Lemme give you a couple of "Revelations" which are not related to the War, because, in today's context, they'd be very inflammatory; but those where any fool could easily see that these couldn't possibly have been the Word of God, OK?
Now, Mohammad had seen Zainab bint Jhash, who was the newly wedded wife of his own adopted son - Zain and the old man [literally meant, because he was in his 50's] craved this young beauty! And, lo behold, there came a Revelation from Allah that told his adopted son to divorce her so that his old man [ pun intended] could have her!?
Then, there was this little girl called Aisha, daughter of his lietenant - Abu Bak'r who playfully sat on the old man's lap and, woe, he got aroused!? She was 6 years old then and he kept "thighing" her till she was 9 and had mensurated, when he took her ... for a wife!? And guess what? Allah gave him a "Revelation" that sanctioned the old man's lust!?
Are these kind of "Revelations" the "Heart" you seek????
Cheers!

Hmmm, I wonder if the Sultan above knows that, in fact, Alif La'am and Me'em are letters of the Arabic Alphabet? Like "A", "L" and "M" in English? Add an "S" to that in English and it means "ALMS" !

It is the first Surah, AL-FATIHAH (The Opening). When a Muslim reads from the Holy Qur'an, s/he reads/recites Al Fatihah first, as a prayer.
Sometimes I think of it as Islam in a nutshell. Here it is, in three English translations:
1
YUSUF-ALI: In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
PICKTHALL: In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
SHAKIR: In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
2
YUSUF-ALI: Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
PICKTHALL: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,
SHAKIR: All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
3
YUSUF-ALI: Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
PICKTHALL: The Beneficent, the Merciful.
SHAKIR: The Beneficent, the Merciful.
4
YUSUF-ALI: Master of the Day of Judgment.
PICKTHALL: Master of the Day of Judgment,
SHAKIR: Master of the Day of Judgment.
5
YUSUF-ALI: Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
PICKTHALL: Thee (alone) we worship; Thee (alone) we ask for help.
SHAKIR: Thee do we serve and Thee do we beseech for help.
6
YUSUF-ALI: Show us the straight way,
PICKTHALL: Show us the straight path,
SHAKIR: Keep us on the right path.
7
YUSUF-ALI: The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.
PICKTHALL: The path of those whom Thou hast favoured; Not the (path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.
SHAKIR: The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray.
