She is partially to blame, but in general, these guys are insecure. All I know is that ONE of them was turning into a WUSS and making almost everything routine.
10 years? And marriage didn't come up? Even most "players" or "naturally good with women" dudes would bring it up by year three if he was in love. I'm serious. Even if he was joking. Seems like there was no real intention of keeping her as the one special girl.
Guys in general hate routine (Just like attractive girls do). This new girl sparked something both in his mind (not really intellectually, but like it was a challenge) and in his pants.
Depending on what he wants, the girl may need to move on. If the guy has no emotional attachment to the 10yr, then all is lost.

he sounds like a polyamorous closet case.
a serial cheater, having flings left and right after promising fidelity, is just a cheater with no respect.
this guys a cheater too, Im not minimizing. If hes made a promise and broken it, then hes done wrong, and hurt people he loves.
but 5 years and 10 years, means in all probability he loves them both. and couldn't leave either one.
it will be up to them to decide if they're willing to be in a poly relationship - and if it can withstand the strain of having lived a lie for so long.
If they can't live that way, then they must leave. Even with love, if you can't love the same way, its not going to work.

wel i would think that the other girl is giving him stuff that u are not, also if u guys are fighting alot he may have been with the other girl to get away from aLL THE problems. but if its for five years he has probably gotten to love that girl for the way she makes him feel and yes he could still love his girlfriend but just not as much as he used to

NO. If you research the true meaning of love, it never constitutes cheating.

I doubt he loves either. He's selfish and people like that only love themselves. Move on.
