Lost and Found, you are right, he has said he is a Christian and I should have mentioned that. However, there is controversy over this being true or if he is hiding his religion (Islam)

A muslim can run for president. The only question we are faced with is are we going to allow a Muslim to be president vs. the other opponent who is most likely not a muslim. In fact, we see a similar question this today when we will be given a choice between a white female president or a black male president. As much as we may claim we are not racist or sexist, the identity of these 2 democratic candidates very much influences who we want as our representative and president of the America.

So before we ask if a muslim will ever be a president, I find it important to ask if a female or an african american will ever be president?

Umm... I'm sure maybe SOME day, but I doubt it's any time soon! Remember, the U.S. had a hard time accepting even a Catholic president (I think John F. Kennedy?), so imagine their view of a Muslim president!!
I'm sure that a Muslim president would be much better than Bush, at least. What's wrong with having a Muslim American president, though? Not all Muslims are bad, as the media seems to claim.
But so far in the American history, it seems as though you must be a white Christian (Protestant) MALE in order to be elected. How sad...!
Peace and blessings be upon you all!

A Jewish man or woman or a Muslim would be president whilst they pick to run and the folk like what they ought to supply and not till then. i'm unlikely to vote for a Jew or Muslim just to place them in workplace.

I doubt it will happen anytime in the foreseeable future. Not the way people tend to vote in this country. Hell an Agnostic, or Atheist, or even a FreeThinker, Or Humanist would have a better shot at becoming president of this country.

I don't see it happening anytime soon. But why not in future? Would you have a so-so non-Muslim president? or a good Muslim president running the country?

A moderate Muslim is preferable over another ignorant Christian fanatic.

obama isnt muslim

the only muslim in the house is Keith Ellison and so far his thoughts are very moderate and he looks like a good man.

As far as theyre doing their work properly, their religion does not matter.

And Im muslim.

The reason am saying that, is that I know religion doesnt change a mans nature. If theyre ignorant and bigots, theyll remain ignorant bigots regardless of their religion.

Not for the next century, there are enough people that have lost lives as a direct result of Islam and things like that are not forgotten easily.

When has faith decided a President? I mean, really. I'm sure it will happen, though, when most of the ignorance is gone.
