They think because we don't follow Mosaic law, we don't believe in the OT. They can't comprehend that it is because we have a new covenant

The problem with the Old Testament is that there are a lot of mistakes in it. For instance, the story of Adam & Eve. At the time that this story was written, people had limited knowledge and didn't know that if members of the same family reproduce, the children are always born with genetic defects. This story cannot be the word of a God who knows better. Who's word is it? Noah and the Arc. Those who wrote this story didn't know that there are over 1 million different species of insects and poor Noah would have to travel to the Amazon Rain Forest in order to gather some of them and, how did he tell males from females? Yet people are told to believe that these stories are the word of God . Are we supposed to believe that God didn't know better? I don't think so.

It's not that they don't believe in it. When you are a Christian you believe the Word of God, all of it, not pieces parts.

Some things a little more difficult to explain, but, the old testament is just that... old. Once Jesus died for our sins, the new testament was... that is what we are to live by... sure there are still some things in the Old test. that are to still be applied today, ... As Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever, times do change, so you can't stick to everything in the old test. for ex. we don't give animal sacrifices etc.

Well I never felt it was as important as the action concerning Jesus, because as a Christian the life of Jesus starts in the New Testament. From a theological point of few for ministers and preachers they would have to study both the old and new testaments.

This is what they have been taught since they were small children. They grow up to repeat the same mis-information.
I adore the entire Bible. New and Old testaments.
2 Covenants given us by God Almighty. The second Covenant is Christ Jesus and His message of faith, grace and love.
Both Covenants are important but only Christ Jesus saves us from the penalty of sin (Death). Works are no longer required, only faith and repentance is needed. The "Works" we do, we do not boast of, rather we give all praise and glory to God Almighty for producing these "Works" in us. Works are a spiritual barometer of our walk (Oneness) with Christ Jesus.
Works are separate and apart from salvation.
Praise The Holy Lamb Of God !!!!!
God Bless You....Peace.

They are either mistaken or flat out lying. Christians believe in the OT, Old Covenant. We are now living under then new covenant with Christ from the NT.

maybe its because Christians do not follow the holy days, pray or worship the way that it is written in the Old Testament.

The old testament holds no merit in today's world , Christ changed that law for all of us, it was his coming that fulfilled the OT prophecy, as a catholic all I see today is so called Christian ministers preaching the OT that puts fear in the hearts of their flock just to control them by preaching an untruth that they know holds no merit today.

Why? Who?

Liberalism. Liberals.

Liberal Christians feel the OT is too harsh. So they either say it is not to be interpreted literally or not to be interpreted at all.

Look up liberal Christianity on Wikipedia and watch your jaws drop.

because some christians actually don't believe everything in the old testement. i have a lot of friends with this belief. they ARE christians, according to the apostle's creed, which seems to be the defining factor on whether or not one is a christian.

It's kind of a buffet approach to the old testament...whatever works for the particular church...
