I am having a huge wedding! I will be spending at least $75,000 and flying people from New Zealand and ten different states to the wedding site which is in PA. Do you think taking two years is too long?

It will have taken me 9 months to plan my wedding when all is said and done, and it's surely not going to be as extravagant as yours... But if you have that kind of financial stability, money talks. If you pick a date a year from now, you should have no problem getting it all done. I'm sure you'll be hiring a wedding coordinator, so you'll be set. I really don't think it will take 2 years though. Congrats and I'm sure it will be a beautiful wedding!

With that size of a wedding with many people coming from all over the country and overseas? No two years is not too long at all. I had a smaller local wedding - 85-95 people or so. We had some family and friends coming in from out of state, but nothing like what you have going on. We had a 13 month engagement and it took us most of that 13 months to get everything in line. For an affair like yours, I think 2 years or so is probably about right. It gives you time to spread different tasks out so you aren't pulling out your hair trying to do a million things in a short period of time. Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

By the time our wedding date comes it will be almost 18 months of planning for me. I don't know how many people you are inviting, but ours is for about 250 people in the NY/NJ area. I know here you really have to plan early to get the really good photographers, event venues, florists etc. I'm glad I had the time to plan. I couldn't have done it (alone) in a year. Depending on the place you want to get married, it COULD take two years notice to get it. Travel arrangements don't really take 2 years, it's securing all the various vendors that takes the time. But if you have the $$, you could definitely pull together a spectacular event in a year. Money talks.

For a huge expesive wedding like you're wanting, no, I think you'd need at least a year and a half, so two years is probably perfect. My wedding will be much smaller; I could probably pull it off in about 2 or 3 months. Good luck!

It could. It really depends on your personal plans for it. Most weddings are planned 2 years in advance b/c the couple wants the reception to be at a certain site. Reception sites book very quickly. Since you have a pretty large budget, you will probably be going with a higher class venue; those might be in high demand and you may have to book very early-up to 2 years.

With that extensive of a wedding no. I am having a much smaller one and planning it in six months lol, You have a lot to plan so take as much time as you see needed. I'm sure a wedding planner would back your idea of taking your time with your planning of this big of an event! Congratulations! Have fun w it though and don't let the stress get to you cuz that totally ruins the novelty of your special day!

I think the average is like 18 months. Your wedding is going to be NICE!! Two years isnt that long it could be longer. I think the more help you have the less time it will take to plan the wedding. GL and enjoy the planning dont let it stress or overwhelm you too much! :)

The average wedding planning time now is anywhere from 1.5 years to 2 years. Unless you just go to Vegas that takes a few weeks.

Yup, planning for 2 years on an event that takes about 6 hours.

Not for that size event. That's going to take some coordination. I hope you hire some help in planning it. That is not a one person job. Find a consultant who can help you organize so you don't want to slit your wrists before the ceremony.

Grats!
