Use a tourmaline iron, those ones work with negative ions which eliminates static in your hair (which makes your hair look frizzy)...
Try in www.folica.com, I have Sedu 1 1/2inches flat iron myself, and beliveme its something else!!!
also, there is some products which help to not burn your hair with the iron and helps to eliminate frizz too, try Sebastian Iron Works....
There is also some products that may help like Laminates from sebastian or silk n shinny from Paul Mitchel
I use those myself, all of the above, I'm mexican too with curly hair and all the people thinks im Straight hair, haha... Good luck....

Use a hair gum in your hair before straightening, then starighten, also Loreal hot to straight works well, just rub it together in your hands and run it through your hair from the top, underside, bottom, ect and then finish blow drying and straighten. Or Hair straightening Tonic works absolute miracles! Just spread through dry hair and straighten. Also after you put in the main gel stuff use something like the Herbal essance straightening spray. Then, if your having problems with weird hairs sticking out, use Pantene smoothing milk in your roots and fly away spots. Also Beyond the zone frizz control works good, but you have to wet your hands first.
I highly recomend straightening tonic

The more people want to straighten their hair the closer we are to curly becoming the next big fashion, it's a cycle, soon you'll have for free what others have to pay for, go w. it now and be one of the first.

Might be what you use, I like to use a frizz control.
For everytime I run the straightner I put a little on my hair, then you get less frizzy hair
