Neither Bush nor his loyal Y!A subjects want or recognize wake up calls.

Bush wants all the oil money he and his friends can get and his Y!A supporters want blood.

Well, you have to also look at the UK's track record. Not to offend anyone from the UK, but the UK only made resolutions. They would tell Hussein not to do something or else they would retaliate, but when Hussein went back on his word (several times I might add) the UK did nothing. It is like when a parent tells a child not to do something bad or else they will get punished, but when the child does, the parent does nothing; because the parents did nothing, the child knows that they will not be punished and continue to behave badly.

So is it really wise to follow the example of a nation that has let another walk over it? I know the US is not pursuing the best possible action and, frankly, I don't believe anyone knows what the best possible action is. Maybe we should pull back for a bit and take new perspective on things. Either way, our soldiers and citizens of other countries are going to die regardless...

I don't believe you spend a lot of time staying current, because you evidently missed the announcement that Prince Harry will soon be on his way to Iraq, along with his unit.

Although the UK is down sizeing in Iraq, it is increasing it's numbers in Afghanistan as part of the NATO force there.

The effect, the Brits are going where they are needed. Right now, the Europeans are doing their 'we don't want to get our hands dirty' routine, so the Brits have to fill their cowardly little gap.

The day will come when Italy, Spain, France, and Germany will call out for help and their call will fall on deaf ears. As they say: "What goes around, comes around !"

The U.K was responsible for the souther portion of Iraq around Basra. It's fairly peaceful there, and they feel that they can comfortably hand over power to Iraqi forces in the region.

The US is responsible for some more volatile regions -- Baghdad, for example, is still rather violent at the moment. The US is in a completely different situation.

As a Brit living in the USA I actually take a little bit of offense to comments like the one stated by fiddich.........luckily I am aware that he is in the minority.............

The Brits YET again came in at the same time as the USA in fact against ALL others...the UN voted NO.........we still came, the EU said NO, we still came....we was NOT ready and we still came.....

Whilst not being able to to comment for all the other Brits.......what I would like to state is that ALL areas that the Brits are in control of are ready to be handed back over for their rule.....
which was what the OBJECTIVE was from the get go.hence why we are pulling out........and if we are such bloody traitors how come we are STILL in Afghanistan and sending more troops YET again to help out....

Well, do you want to see another 9/11 again I can see some people forget about that day and may-be that could be one of the reasons why our president wont back out of this war.

Because if we do every country in the world will never let us live it down like all the other wars that we backed out of because of people who act like hippies.

At what point will the left wingers open their eyes as to the dire situation in Iraq and that it would not be prudent to cut & run. (at least for a while). UK is NOT backing away at this time.

Most Americans are opening up their eyes .The so called President has to admit he was wrong and misled the country when he went to war in Iraq

NO.
You are seeing what you want to see.
UK is pulling out because the Iraqis in their area have stood up and took responiblity.

This was never going to be easy.
This isn't like a movie where it is wrap up in 2 hours.

Doing the right thing is diffcult and hard.

Running away now will be a disaster.
