you will have to have a parent go with you or sign a waiver to do most. soup kithcens are easy to volunteer in, but i sugest starting out with a local church group doing community service. you might not be religious, but those are usually supervised, safe, and gets you in contact with people with your interests who are the same age.

I assume you are talking about Richmond HIll, Georgia?
If so, I think St. Joseph's hospital is nearby, in Savannah. If you are going to be 14 be the summer, they have a youth volunteer program each summer for young people age 14 years and older.

For an application or additional information Volunteer Services:

St. Joseph's Hospital (912) 819-3393

I think it is great you want to volunteer. I volunteered at a hospital when I was your age and it was a fantastic experience. If this doesn't work out, call other hospitals in the area. Most have volunteer programs for teens. Another plus is that you will meet other kids your age who are also volunteering their time.

Good luck!

Just the fact that you are asking this says alot about you. Kudos's for you.
You might try your local nursing homes. A friend and I do this sometimes. You can read, talk and just listen the the wonderful people who live in nursing homes.
The life's those people have lived and are so gracious to share with you are like personal, living history books!! Whatever you pick, you will find out that giving ALWAYS pays more than it costs. Have a great day.

How about a local humane society? Or maybe your local parks and recreation department. I also know that the city I grew up in would hire teens to paint the curbs and fire hydrants as well. It usually pays pretty good too. And you can work on your summer tan at the same time. lol
