I don't know what part of the world you're asking from, but in the U.S. , the Surgeon General's decree dating back to 1964, required that a warning be put on all packs of cigarettes sold domestically.
Incidentally, America still has just about the smallest health warnings of just about any country on Earth. In Canada, for instance, it takes up over half the package, complete with some rather disgusting photos/imagery of what smoking can do to you. The U.K. is not far behind that and Mexico has some pretty big warnings on it's packs as well.
The "roll-yer-own" stuff has even less in the way of health advisories, in the States. A tiny California Proposition 65 warning.

B. I'm a smoker and I even know A, B, C. It's not D because I already buy the product in the first place. It's not a shocker to read the legally required warning label. If someone thinks they're "safe" then they're the same people who read the warning stickers on ladders and the tags on hairdryers that say do not drop in water.

Yup, lawsuit. A 3 billion dollar settlement will get your eyes opened to a poisonous product that you've pushed for decades without repercussions.
