I am about ready to go in for a touch up on a tattoo I recently had done. The tattoo cost me $110 and I tipped $40. The artist did a fantastic job, but now I don't know how much to tip for the touch up...
I read in another question that is good to bring a gift for the shop, but I wouldn't know where to start with something like that...

An art book might be a nice thing to take for the shop...they usually love reference material. And considering the popularity right now, a book of pinup girls might be ideal...

Well, the touch-up sitting is free, and they're more to protect our reputation than anything else. If you feel by his actions during the touch-up, that he warrants a tip, then feel free. But tipping should never be looked at as an expected expense. It's a gratuity, for good service. And it's up to the customer. Tattoos are expensive as it is, and we're well aware of that. Your call.

You could bring them some BINDERS and those paper protoctor things, tattoo shops ALWAYS need those! oh, and distilled water and paper towels. Hell go to town on that stuff at walmart, $20 will get you 18 gallons of distilled water and a 3 pack of papertowels!
However, if the SAME artist is touching up the tatoo that originally gave it to you, then you shouldn't tip them at all!! It should be included in the price!

depending on the size of the tattoo and how much touch-up is being done. It's always a good idea to tip your artist *even for a touch-up* because they have to open up a new needle, new inks, and spend time doing your tattoo all over again. 20$ minimum is always a good idea.

The guys like brownies or cookies. I will say that your tip was very generous and I don't think your artist would expect anything.
About the paper towel thing, we are very picky - it can only be Bounty..white...the kind that rips into little half pieces. So always keep that in mind if you visit us, LOL!!!

$0.00. You paid for the tattoo, you paid the tip. The touch-up is included in the price you already paid.
