I am looking for suggestions of facilities in California that can provide treatment and therapy for adhd, depression, anxiety, as well as evaluate chemical dependance. Most importantly I am not looking for a drug rehab center, but a place that focuses on counseling, coaching, and also addresses addiction. Im not looking for suggestions or anyones two cents beyond where I might seek such help. Thank you

I was an in-patient for a couple of weeks at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) for bipolar disorder, and there were a lot of folks in there with dual diagnosis (the term for mental ilness AND substance abuse issues). THey have a very good program for mental health rehabilitation, which starts as in-paitent and then weans you to an out-patient day program for several weeks. I went thru the out-patient program (they call it parital hospitalization) for about 6 weeks, and it helped me learn to live with myself again, take care of my daily needs, and even learn how to function in society again. I was agoraphobic, severely depressed with dissociation and schizoid paranoia, and a major suicide risk. At the end I was no longer even afraid of driving! Their program includes occupational and psych counseling, in both group and individual therapies, on a schedule that leaves you with little time to feel sorry for yourself. They even make you change your own bed linens, and you are not allowed to eat alone unless you are on "lock-down (which is rare).

Contact your insurance and they should be able to help you find them and tell you if you can use your insurance to cover it all.
