Hi- I'm 5"8, 33 years old. I WAS 268 pounds. Now, I'm 200. It took me about 6 months and that was last year. I'm at a plateau now, and that's fine until this summer when I'm going to bump up the exercise.

What I did? Jenny Craig. It worked so well that after 4 months I got a job there. The first few months I didn't exercise, just ate the food, then I added in some aerobics. Worked well and felt TONS better.

8 years ago I weighed 130. I am 5 5, was 25 then and now am 33. I lost 20 lbs, my weight never goes over 110 now. It took probably about 5 months to lose the weight initially. That is 4 lbs per month, which I think is a healthy rate of weight loss. Basically I stopped snacking, reduced portion size, cut out fried foods, sugar, limited dairy products and eggs, and started being a whole lot more active.

if losing some pounds of any description and inches is what you want then I would suggest you use a diet that is all natural and is rich in protein and vitamins. This allows your body to get all the things it needs to function correctly and so you don’t feel hungry or tired. By doing this instead of going on one of these current craze diets you will be successful. I used a protein based diet with Herbalife after a friend who had lost weight recommended it to me. All the way through you feel great and energized, you also get great coaching and support along the way. The people are very friendly and gave me lots of great advice. I needed to lose 40 pounds and I did so fairly easily. There is no pressure and they will even send you a load of free samples so you can try before you buy. The samples were the thing that initially convinced me that this was the right path to choose, I could tell the difference right away. The products really work and you feel great whilst losing weight. They are fun to work with as well as being serious about helping you lose weight.
I lost all my weight in less than four months and they have helped me to keep it off. I would definitely recommend using them, the tips you get and encouragement are excellent (their advice and time is FREE). I am still with them so I stay healthy. The owners will advise you on what to purchase depending on what you want to lose, my sister did this also and lost 76 pounds in less than five months. The website is www.myhealthabc.com, if you want to lose the healthy way and quickly then this is for you. You just leave your details and they call you up, I would suggest that if you aren’t sure or don’t want someone to ring you then go to their main site www.myhealthabcmall.com and you can see all the products and packages. This is what I did before I went to the first site and left my details so they could contact me. You can see with all the products and detail they have that they mean business. Its nice to have contact with real people who care about you losing weight and improving your health instead of someone just trying to sell you something. I am confident now that I will continue to keep the weight off with the help I have received. I think so long as you are serious about losing weight then these guys will genuinely get you there

I weighed 325 pounds last year. With my diet, I am now down to 215. I lost about 10 pounds a month.

My problem is portion control. I could eat until i burst if you put the food in front of me. When I started my new medication, that rpomoted weight gain, I knew I had to do something. I idn't join a "diet" per se, but i restricted my calorie intake to about 1,000 calories a day. I have a breakfast bar every morning (100 calories) a slim fast shake for 200 calories (i like thier shakes best, but anything works as long as it works for you!), and then had ONE plate of food for super. I still eat the same foods i use to, just not in the same abundence.

I also exercise. I try to run a mile a day; i don't always succeed, but i try. By still eating what I like for supper, but in moderation, the diet has not felt restrictive at all. It's worked wonders for me.

Oh, also take into account my height; i'm 6"4" if you beleive it! My BMI scale says i should be at 180 for my height, and that's my goal.

I hope this helps

Weight lost: 23 pounds, 20 from diet, 3 in maintenance.
How long it took: 4 months. Maintenance for 10

What I did: All those things they tell you that work. Counted calories, took up running, and made a conscious effort to change my unhealthy habits. Tracked my progress online at the site below.

Other things... I'm 27 and 5'5". I feel ancient when I read this board.

I'm 5'9", weight 155 lbs, age 41

I had gained about 25 lbs and successfully lost it following Weight Watchers. It took about 4 months, but it has stayed off. I think losing weight slowly and getting more exercise were the keys for me keeping the weight off. True for anyone at any age.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I'm 22, 5'8", and 134 pounds.

Last May, I weighed 158 pounds, which is the most I've ever weighed. It took me about 7 months to lose those 24 pounds.

Initially, I tried exercising, but I didn't really see results from that. After two months of not having lost much weight, I talked to a dietician friend of mine and she suggested I start keeping a food diary, detailing what I ate, how much, and the amount of calories, fat, carbs, and protein. By doing this, I saw I was eating WAY more than I needed to- between 2000 and 2200 calories a day.

After I had kept this diary for a couple of weeks and had a good record of my usual eating habits, I went over it with my friend and she gave me suggestions on where to cut calories; for example, I agreed to replace regular mayo with lite mayo, to quit eating sugared cereals for breakfast, to quit drinking milk all the time, etc. She also pointed out that I was getting way too many calories from fat and not near enough from protein, so we had to come up with some other kinds of foods that were low fat or high protein.

Keeping the food diary was also helpful to me once I started making dietary changes because it forced me to be conscious of what I was eating. Also, the hassle of having to go enter all those numbers into Excel everytime I wanted to eat something was a good disincentive not to snack or munch throughout the day.

Now, I refuse to eat fruits or vegetables, so it was quite difficult coming up with healthy meal choices. But by the time fall had rolled around, I had already lost 20 pounds. There were some things I wouldn't give up, like Mountain Dew, so I had to find ways to have smaller portions of them. With the Mountain Dew, I switched from drinking a can a day, to buying 24-oz bottles and having an 8-oz glass instead.

Overall, changing my diet was the best thing I did to lose weight. It's also enabled me to keep the weight off, because now I eat much healthier. I now consume only about 1500-1700 calories a day to maintain my current weight. I really don't exercise much, and like I said, it didn't help me very much in the beginning. Exercise is good for boosting your metabolism and showing results in the long-term, but it doesn't help you lose weight right from the start.

If you decide to go with the route I chose, I recommend making changes to your diet incrementally. Find a way to cut 100 calories a day to start and once you are comfortable with that, then cut another 100 calories, and so on and so forth. If you try to cut 500 calories a day out of your diet right from the start, you will just feel hungry all the time because your stomach is used to having more food, plus you will depress yourself by "forbidding" foods you really enjoy. Good luck!
