Over the last couple of years I have a spot on my lower jaw on the left side that becomes tender to the touch. It will last usually a day or two and then go away. I've been to the dentist regularly but have forgotten to ask this question because it is usually not bothering me at the time of my appointments. My teeth are very heathy. I had two small cavities while I was in my 20's and had my wisdom teeth removed. But other than that I haven't had any trouble with my teeth. If you know what could be causing this problem I'm having please let me know. It's driving me crazy! :) Thanks!

see an orthopedist - I had a similar problem some years ago. After a thorough check by my dentist (with 360 degr.x-rays too) and he found nothing, my orthopedist sent me for ultrasound and jaw exercise physiotherapy treatments. Been ok for some years already.

If it's a particular spot, you might have an ulcer. My uncle has been a dentist for almost 35 years and I've learned a lot from him. Even if a bump isn't visible, you might want to put a bit of Orajel (or something like it, make sure it has Benzocaine 15-20% in it, it works best) on the spot with a Q-tip.

If that doesn't help, try writing a note down for yourself and put it next to the card with your next appointment date written on it.

I heard of one woman having a heart attack and the pain started in her jaw. I'd have it looked at if even a dentist can't explain it.
