when i got my cat, he was the most ordinary looking one in his litter (he looks like a ragamuffin/turkish van combo)--but i fell in love with the heart shaped spot on his back!
his litter mates were very unique, one had curly or wire hair, and the other had 'scottish fold' type ears, and the other had short little stubby legs!!
is it common for all sorts of unusual traits to be in just one litter? i wanted to take them all home with me cuz they were so unique!

The mother cat only releases eggs for fertilization after she has been mated and the male sperm are present. So if she has the opportunity she may mate several times with different cats when she is in heat. Therefore her kittens can have multiple "sperm donors" for their physical characteristics.

Kittens in the same litter can have different fathers.
And I've seen their markings change as they get older. My kitten was pure white when I got her and now she is tiger striped.

Yes it is. One mama cat can be impregnated by many cats, not one like humans. Therefore, each cat could have a different daddy.
