The county is doing a warrant round up this weekend and has told him he can paythe 800.00 by Friday and avoid being arrested in public. He does not have the money to pay the ticket. What are his other options? Can he pay hif fine of by doing over nights? We are located in the state of Texas. The ticket was for speeding I believe it was 12 miles over the speed limit, but he also did not have his proof of insurance. He did have insurance and could have gotten that taken care of easily, but didn't. Any help would be appriciated.

This is not the only problem your son has or will have in the future. Look at your question. Your son got a speeding ticket and did not have his proof of insurance in the car where it is supposed to be at all times. Yes, he could have located the proof of insurance and shown it to the proper authorities. That would have helped his case. BUT he didn't bother to do that. He also didn't bother to pay the ticket. He didn't talk to any of the same authorities regarding what he could do if he just didn't have the money for the ticket.

Your son has not done ONE single positive thing to help himself get out of trouble. Here you are asking what he can do and how to do it. WHERE is your son? WHY don't you make him responsible for his own mistakes? Next you will volunteer to sit in jail week ends in his place. Obviously you don't have the money to pay the ticket or you would have done so by now.

You are hurting him more than helping him.

Even if he does overnights in the jail or does work release he will still have to pay part of the fine, and in California you have to pay to attend work release or do overnights in the jail as well(don't know about TX). I'm sure the $800 dollars he is looking at was probably around $100 if he went to court when required.

You need to help him learn his lesson. Quit trying to protect him and let him take his lumps. Maybe next time he will deal with the problem.

Take his proof of insurance and whatever he CAN pay to the courthouse where he would go to pay the fine. Showing proof of insurance MAY reduce the fine a little. I don't know if he can arrange a payment plan. Bringing a 'down payment' can't hurt when asking.

I am an officer in KY and the best advice I can give you is for him to take the propper insurance card with him and turn himself in at the police station. They will probably arrest him, but it will look good on his part that he turned himself in, and he won't have to go through the embarasement of being arrested in public. Then you may need to get a lawyer and he should be able to help you out.

Sounds like he has a big problem. The only solution for him ios to try and secure a public defender at no cost. Speeding and no insurance is not taken lightly.

He can go to the municipal bulding where the ticket was reported he could go and ask to pay monthly fines for his speeding ticket If they have that there or he could ask to borrow money from his friends and neighbors for money I hope he doesn't get arrested I will pray for him

some areas let you make a small payment and set up a payment schedule. Call the courthouse to inquire.

Sadly, he can either pay or get locked up. He should've payed it or showed up to court. He needs to learn from this experience. The same thing happened to my brother and they locked him up for it.
