There is only one reason why you would want to give your dog Bendaryl. That is if you suspect it is having a allergic reaction. Then I found the best way to get the dog to take it is to open the dog's mouth put the pill all the way to the back of it's throat then hold it's mouth closed while rubbing it's throat awhile until it has swallowed it.

Wrench.

You don't have to wrap it in cheese or peanut butter to give him a pill. Besides that will make them gain weight, and they will expect it everytime you give them something turning them into a picky eater. I like the "down the hatch approach." What I do is open the dogs mouth, toss the pill in and hold the dogs mouth closed so they don't spit it out, then open it just a little so they can swallow. They have no choice but to. You will know they have swallowed when they lick their nose with their tounge. Or you can find the little flap\pocket in the side of the dogs mouth and shove the pill in that way if your dog is prone to choking, and repeat the holding mouth closed and opening it a little so they can swallow.

I give my pit Benadryl....I just open his mouth and pop it in towards the back of his mouth, and then gently rub his throat, goes down every time. Then I encourage him to get a drink of water.

Use liquid benedryl in an eye dropper. Ask ur vet how much 2 give, as it goes by weight. Then just place the eye dropper in the back of ur dogs mouth on the side, & slowly give it the medicine. Good luck!

Dogs are pretty good about taking pills wrapped in meat, cheese, peanut butter just about anything that is pliable enough to hide the pill. With a cat you just throw it to the back of the tongue and massage the throat until the cat swallows but I dunno if that would work for a dog.

buy it in tablet form and hide the tablet in a piece of meat, cheese, part of a twinkie...almost anything.

if you're stuck with liquid, they make something that looks like a plastic syringe in the baby department of most drug stores. you fill it with the proper dosage, open their mouth, get it inside and sink the plunger on the syringe shooting the liquid down their throat.

I take a wad of peanut butter and stick the pill in that. Then, I place it way back on her tongue. She loves peanut butter, and swallows it right down, with the pill.

Wrap the tablet in cheese or bread. Make sure you have the right dose - check with your vet if you haven't already.
