I am looking for some engagement ring ideas. So many rings are so tall and I am afraid will rip the gloves. I've been thinking about a bezel setting, but I don't really like round cut. I like the princess cut diamonds. Any help would be appreciated.

I was a medical assistant and couldn't wear my engagement ring for that same reason, the stone sat too high and ripped my gloves. Instead I just wore my promise ring for work which was a channel set anniversary band. With a channel set all the stones are flush with the band so nothing sits too high. Your gloves will slide right over it without a problem.

I have this ring http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2119722&cp&kw=16648727&origkw=16648727&sr=1 It's my 'travel' ring. My wedding set (promise ring, engagement ring and wedding band) is worth about $5000 and I almost lost it once in a hotel room so my husband banned me from wearing it when we're on vacation. Instead, he bought me this one to wear. I fell in love with this ring the moment I saw it. I absolutely LOVE princess cut diamonds, and the fact that the stones in this ring are in a 'kite' setting makes it even better. I've never seen another ring like it.

Congratulations and good luck finding something you love.

Wedding Rings For Nurses

even though financing a ring seems like a good idea, i think the last thing you want to do is accumulate MORE debt while you're in school. if you're feeling kind of traditional and want to give real diamonds, you can still get a 2 karat ring...that is, a ring with several small diamonds and a larger stone in th middle, equalling a total weight of 2 karats. if you're more creative, don't get a diamond at all. Look into other stones (what's her favorite color or birthstone?). This would be much more "cost effective". Also, keep in mind what kind of jewelry she wears, if any. Don't get a big bulky ring that looks flashy if it's something she won't be comfortable wearing on a daily basis. You can always get her something "bigger and better" as a wedding or anniversary gift. Congrats and good luck!

Look for a Bezel set with an oval stone set sideways. Or anything else with a low profile.

Links to ideas for a setting. Obviously you won't buy white topaz but the settings are good for a nurse.

Ask the jeweler for ideas and bring a pair of gloves with you to see if if will catch on the ring.
I like princess cut myself.

I helped one of my friends find an engagement ring for his fiance and I saw a lot of rings and I personally found out that tall rings can be complicated to wear specially if she is very active with her hands. I did see many rings that were shorter and looked absolutely gorgeous, maybe this site can help you, i got a lot of information from here and passed it on to my friend who is now happiliy engaged and his fiance LOVED the ring!!!

It's not a diamond...but how about a Claddaugh ring? It symbolizes a lot and doesn't have anything that will catch on the gloves!

Mine is an eternity style with the stones set in a channel along the front of the ring, it's perfect for clumsy me as I am always bashing my hands on things, so protects the stones.

The best is a Marquise cut I think. So sophisticated. I love them. I dont think there is really a perfect ring to prevent the ripping of gloves. I wear the gloves as well, and i dont have a problem with them at all. Its only when putting them on, and taking them off that u have to be carefull.
If u see something u think she will like, go for it. She will figure it out, trust me....lol
Good luck and CONGRATS!!!!
