My Husband and I are having mental issues trying to deal with all this war stuff. Im well aware of it all, I grew up an ARMY brat. BUT hes still in training and we are arguing about people who go over there. All I want to know is do you know of any soldiers that havent been over seas and what is there job in the military?

We are not going to ruin our marriage and I AM 110% supportive. This job concern goes both ways, he's in as much pain as I am being apart. Its not just me, for you people who want to try to attack me. We are very happy and thats the reason we hate being apart. I was the one trying to make the point to him that VERY FEW people go. Thank you

I know there are soldiers that don't go over, but yes a majority do. You can pretty much bet that if you're military sometime during your service you will be overseas. I know that some stay back on Rear D, but I think its people that have reasons for not going like they got called back in, are close to retirement, have a physical reason they can't go. My husband is over there now, and I think if you prepare yourselves ahead of time, trust each other, and have good communication you can get through it!

Mine has been in the army for five years and hasn't gone, but the first two years wear army reserve as a 92A. However he's been 11b (infantry) in the 82nd AB div (which is ALWAYS deployed in one way or another) and has been active for three years and is just now having to go. I hate to sound negative and like a *itch honey but if your hubby gets orders there's not much you can do about it. I know it's hard but it's not time to worry and fight yet. Wait till he gets in a unit that is deploying before you start causing problems in your marriage. And even then until you see them get on the plane nothing is final. By the time he gets with a unit and the time comes you'll be more used to the idea and you'll handle it better. Try not to worry right now, it's hard but don't let the army have that much control over your relationship and your home life. There will be enough time for that later on. While he's at home try to treat it like a normal job, it'll go a long way to keeping you both sane.

the military is for fighting wars, that is what the military does. i don't know any jobs in the army that don't one way or the other, used to fight a war.from supply people to weather men, all the jobs in the military are geared towards war. maybe he could be a radio man in Alaska, but they also use radio men in Iraq. if he's in the army chances are he's going to fight in the Iraq war, and possibly die. but being an army brat, you had to live your life with the chance your parent could get sent into a war zone. you just might not have realized that until recently. if you can't handle this i suggest you divorce him now, so if he does get sent to Iraq he won't have the break up fresh in his mind and put his life at risk. the last thing he needs over in Iraq is a wife that won't support him when he needs it most

Tell him to go into admin and become a paperpusher. Even if he goes, he will never pull convoy or patrol duty. He will sit nice and safe in an air conditioned bunker all day pushing paper from one side of the desk to the other. And will come back safe and sound with a chest full of medals and awards.

I know of one. He's dodged service overseas like crazy. Makes you wonder why he's in the army in the first place.

Not willing to go to war.... shouldn't be in the army. That IS their business, after all.

Lots don't go.....some that go see no combat...It takes 8 soldiers in the rear, to keep one soldier fighting on the front
Bookkeeper or Paymaster would be a safe bet.

Very few do not go overseas. I spent five years in Asis and seven in Europe. It was fun except for being shot and blown up.
