There are three motors back there, the washer pump, rear wiper motor ( if equip) and the fuel pump. The fuel pump is more underneath though.

It sounds as if you are hearing the level air compressor pump cycling on and off. There could be other noise from the fuel pump but that is always running when the motor is running. You would have to have a look underneath to see if you are equipped with air shocks, or get a couple of people to stand on the rear bumper and wait to see if the pump starts with the ignition on and then you will know for sure.

It also could be the automatic level control compressor motor cycling on. Could be normal, or possibly there is a small leak in the system
