I heard from some people that if you don't eat with in 30 minutes of working out then you won't gain any muscle or become better. In essence, it will be a wasted practice. Is this true?

that is false, however, when you exercise your muscles rip a little. proteins help to rebuild those muscles and make them bigger.
but no exercise is wasted. any amount will help you in your weight loss journey.

if you do eat that soon, dont make it a huge meal. a small protein packed meal will go a long way.

Not true. The body doesn't work that way.

Eating is a process. What you eat today shows on the body next week.
