I'm 5 foot 10 and 144 pounds. If you do the math, I have a healthy weight. I used to be 185 lbs, but I lost it all. I do have a problem, though. It's not serious, just my vanity. I have an average sized body, if not, slender for my height. Being overweight left me with an ugly lump though. It sticks out like a sore thumb and makes my self-esteem fall just a bit. What is a good and safe way to get rid of a gut? I'm willing to diet and exercise even more, but do you have any tricks or tips on how to target my gut?

50 sit ups a night should do the trick

There are lots of reasons why you have a gut int he first place, so if you try it all hopefully one or two will help :)

- Drink heaps more water, all the time (like at least 5 glasses per day)
- Don't drink any alcohol
- Stop smoking if you do
- Eat a lower amount of salt and make sure you read the back of labels so they dont have too much sodium and MSG (621).
- Don't eat 3 hours beofre going to bed
- Exercise, 'sit-ups' obviously but any exercises that targets your gut area.
- Also find out if you have lactose intolerance, if so, cut out alot of dairy from your diet
- Eat foods higher in fibre

Hopefully all of these will help you. Some are not fun, well most arent, but neither is having a gut so its a sacrafice worth taking I think.

Okay, the main thing I would suggest is to do some curl ups/sit ups.

To do them properly, lay on your back with your knees bent (I'm sure you know what I mean if you've done a sit up before). Have someone hold your feet down or place your toes under something such as a chair or a sofa, something to keep your feet from raising off of the floor.

Next, cross your hands over your chest and onto your shoulders (left hand goes on right shoulder, right hand goes on left). Raise your back up off of the ground and touch your elbows to your knees. You should do this about 20-30 times your first day, and gradually work up until you can do 100 a day. And keep going until you are satisfied.

there is no way to actually target weight loss to a specific part of your body. however, if there is extra fat (and btw, CONGRATULATIONS on losing so much weight and getting healthy. that is awesome) you are just going to have to continue with a cardio and strength training routine.
im also sure that it doesnt stick out as much as you think it does. you are probably being harder on yourself than anyone else would be. people probably dont notice what you have left to lose, but that you have lost so much already.
even if you do 1000 crunches a day, your stomach will not be specifically targeted. (sucks, i know. my middle is giant, but my upper body and lower body arent that bad. so i look ridiculous)
cardio will help with fat loss, and strength training will help with making sure once you lose that fat you will have a sculpted body.

i suggest running or using a cross trainer machine. if you just continue with a typical exercise routine you should be able to tone up pretty quickly.

good luck, and congrats again.
