My boyfriend will randomly start bleeding through either his ear of his nose for quite a while (I'm not sure how long). It's been going on for the past 2 weeks, every other day or so. His face will swell up on that side, but you cant tell by looking - it just feels really hard. He doesn't seem too worried about it, but people don't just randomly bleed and swell up for no reason. Is this something serious, and what exactly is the cause of it?

Edit:
He is allergic to alot of things, but he hasn't been introduced to anything new recently. He's really allergic to the grass in his dad's front lawn but he never really goes out there except to feed the dogs but he always does that.

I would worry about the ear except you don't say if he's in any pain. A burst ear drum is a serious condition but is usually accompanied with severe pain.

If the allergies are causing that much swelling you should consider some medicine and try a Nasal WASH. A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It soothes with warmth, it draws out the entire gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean, but without the eye stinging). It will help with nasal dryness and also heal damage. It also flushes out allergens in the nasal cavities.

Buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot

You can do this as often as you like with no side effects

well, it sounds as though some sort of blood vessel has ruptured. the best idea would be to rush him to the emergency room to get it looked at. blood may come out of the nose, just from pressure changes. and an irritated ear COULD bleed. but they wouldn't cause your face to swell up like that. but, get him immediately to the hospital, because the blood vessel very well could somehow apply pressure to the brain, which could cause damage. hope this helps!

Not sure what it is?? Could be serious. I am not a doctor, but know any time there is any bleeding especially from the ear, consistently, it should be looked at. Have him consult with his doctor just for peace of mind.

It sounds like hes having an allergic reaction. Has he been eating anything different? Has he changed his laundry detergent in the last 2 weeks? If i were you, i would tell him to see a doctor about it ASAP

Please take him to the emergency center, don't delay, it could be nothing but then again it could be life threatening. Did he take a bad bang, People don't usually bleed from the ear unless they have broken an ear drum or have some other serious issues. good luck, God bless and put angels on your pillows
