Yes, we are a nation of idiots. I'm not sure lack of degrees is the reason, but I'm sure if more people did have degrees it couldn't hurt.
Why do you think all sorts of bans are getting passed? (Smoking, now trans fats, what's next?) A third of the nation are reading as children - so the government treats them as such.
The nation, for the most part is lazy and uneducated. There's a show out called "Are you smarter than a 5th grader". What does that tell you? About a third of the population needs materials at a 4th or 5th grade reading level. USA Today & the New York Times are published at a 10th Grade reading level. The Wall Street Journal is between 11-12 grade. Why is this important? Because only 25% of the stories in the papers could be understood by someone at an 8th grade reading level or lower.

depending on your President and whoever the hell put him in his curent position, YES. you are a nation of idiots. BUT, here in the philippines, we have a higher percentage of people who have finished college (cuz we TRULY 'value" education here *smirk*), yet come election day, many people still vote for stupid, corrupt, traditional politicians. so there. it just goes to show that education does not necessarily exempts a person from his right, or rather, privilege to act moronic and uncivilised.

Dam shame too .....what it is all comes down to our public school system ....which suxs......kids in other countries got better grade schools and spend lot more money on education, just think what we could do with money they spending on dam Iraq and put in our schools instead
