You can get fat on other stuff, too. Remember that even though you can't eat cow MEAT in Hinduism, you can generally eat dairy products, like yogurt and ghee (clarified butter.) That's why the cow is so sacred--it provides food by its milk, work/transportation if you hook it to a cart or plow, and fertilizer/fuel by its patties. You can put cow poo in a special well-thingy and get the methane off it, and then use the remaining manure as fertilizer. Wheeee! Natural gas AND natural fertilizer!
