blow dry the hair on your scalp while you're upside down while you use your fingers to stretch it out so it gets nice and straight and then while still upside down let it cool and run your fingers thru it and fluff it up. Fabulous!
Get some big velcro rollers and sleep with them in, that works good too.
Go to sleep with your damp hair in a bun on top of your head. Twist your hair around and put it up high on your head. This creates volume at your roots and soft waves!

try a volumizing shampoo and conditoner! i cant recommend a certain brand because i have thick hair and avoid volume stuff, but i am pretty volumizing conditoner and shampoo would help a lot!

well...i remember lauren conrad (from "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills") saying that she blow dries her scalp and then sprays hair spray at the roots and then fluffs it up..this should help alot and it looks really good with long layered hair..good luck!!
