Mark wastes no time in getting down to business - a single-sentence introduction, and not a disgression to be found from beginning to end. An event has taken place that radically changes the way we look at and experience the world, and he can't wait to tell us about it.
There's an air of breathless excitement in nearly every sentence he writes. The sooner we get the message, the better off we will be, for the message is good, incredibly good: God is here, and He's on our side!

"The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God." Everything in Mark's gospel then goes on to point to the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of the world.

This gospel or good news is demonstrated in the powers Jesus had over demonic spirits and nature; the healing miracles show the reversals that take place in God's kingdom.

His journey to the cross for the sins of humankind and resurrection are manifestations of that good news.

Mark wrote his gospel for Christians of pagan origin. It proclaims the mystery of Jesus, by relating the words and deeds by which he revealed himself to mankind.

Mark tends to be written to the Romans. It focuses more on Jesus' deeds, service, and sacrifice, not as much on teaching.
