Why do men totally ignore when a woman is walking towards their directions say in a hallway and the guy just totally pretends or seems to not notice the woman. Suppose in this case they know each other.
I mean why do guys do that?

To add: I was walking alongside a male friend of mine when the guy passed side by me, and it was not a distance in which it was easy to not see someone. Well, I looked at his direction and said hi and he said hi, but he looked kinda tired and I just kinda smiled and gave him a thumbs up.

I was walking alongside a male friend of mine when the guy I know walked past me. It was not a distance in which it was easy to miss it. So I looked back at him almost when he was leaving and said hi in which the guy turned around and said hi back. I think that if it was not for me saying hi we would of just pretended the other one existed.

When I do it I just don't want to be bothered.
That or I might loose control and tell her how I feel about her and if there are other dudes around... well, that's just not going to fly.

Well I have had girls that I've done that too.. It's usually insecurity. I feel like if I did greet the girl she might look at me and not say Hi back and then I'd feel really stupid. Soooo not saying Hi, for me at least, was just a way to protect myself from rejection. Self centered and stupid, I know....

This is gonna sound strange, but he probably either really likes you or really dislikes you. If you're sure he doesn't hate you or something, he's probably just shy. Are you not doing the same thing to him? He's probably wondering why you don't say hi to him. Smile or say hi next time he passes, and his reaction should give you your answer.

To not offend the woman for one. Guys look a women...as in stare at them down to the smallest detail. But guys get trained very fast not to show that in public. So you need to pretend you don't see her.
He could also not like the woman at all...and not like=does not exist.
Or he could like her and not want her to know.
Or he could like her, but be mad at her. Something like 'wow, she is such a great woman and she goes out with that jerk Bob...I hate her for that'.
