Does the fact that you do not believe in God, necessarily equate for you that there is no afterlife as well (after life, there is only non-existence)?

If you do believe in an afterlife, how so?

Jett, I appreciate your concern, but there is nothing to fear from an Atheist. I am solid in my faith. I have talked with several Atheist's in nice conversations from this site, I wish them no bad or harm. I can only hope that one day they would see and hear, but I do not hate them because they do not. That would not be a good example of Christianity.

Not really. There are some atheists that believe in an afterlife.

Personally I don't believe in an afterlife, but if there is a higher plane of existence it does not necessarily mean there is a deity.

Good question. There could be an afterlife without God. Heaven and Hell aren't the only places (theoretically).
I really don't know. I'm not sure whether I believe in afterlife, but I certainly don't believe in God.

A sound question. No, it does not necessarily equate, but there is no evidence for either, so no atheist will believe in an afterlife of any sort.

It does not equate. I happen not to believe in either but there is no reason that an Atheist could not believe in an afterlife with no god involved.

For me, the afterlife ideas fall into the same category as gods and are therefore not something I believe in.

However I know there are some atheists who do believe in life after death in one form or another.

It's not a requirement for atheism...There's a film "What dreams May Come" which follows a man after death and there's no mention of God...It's actually not bad, the afterlife is a dreamlike world, but some people believe they deserve punishment and perpetually torture themselves...

Atheism, by itself, just means a disbelief of any god. They may believe in afterlife, they may not, they may believe in ghosts, they may not, etc. However, generally, most atheists disbelieve in all things supernatural.

Personally, I consider myself a bit more spiritual than some atheists. But I still don't believe in afterlife.

I think any atheist worth there salt will be skeptical if not outright deny an afterlife. The amount of evidence for it is the same for religion, little to none.

God, the afterlife, heaven, hell, etc. -- these are all matters of pure speculation. There is no empirical evidence that any of these things exist, no way even to investigate whether they do. Therefore, why believe in them?

I don't think an afterlife can exist. As an atheist, I don't believe in the existence of anything spiritual, such as a heaven.
