I am also going through a difficult time, but my smiling grand daughter made me smile.

When I clocked out at 7:30 am after working a 12.5 hour shift.
My morning prayers. How can I not smile? I have so much to be grateful for.
Hearing the weather forecast--warm weather is coming, finally.
Talking to my 73 year old father on the phone. He's great.
Hearing my kitty purring beside me as I was falling asleep.
When I woke up, my favorite cardinal was feeding outside my window.
Seeing my husband walk in the door when he got home from work (that always makes me smile--even when I'm miffed at him)
Watching hubby light a fire in the fireplace (it makes me smile to see my computer-nerd hubby doing "manly" stuff)
When I was explaining the landscaping that I'll be starting next month. I can see it in my mind and it's beautiful! I've been planning it for a year and soon it'll be time to start making it a reality.
When hubby banned me from our kitchen because I tried to heat a burrito on a pizza pan on our gas stove (I know now that this doesn't work too good...) I'm already "banned" from the microwave because of a popcorn incident.
Reading the last answer before mine. I KNEW that there were still genuinely kind people in the world.

I've been having a pretty bad few days (my treatment-resistant depression has been biting really hard), but today I discovered/watched an episode of the hilarious animated series "Harvey Birdman" on Youtube, with the voice of Reducto performed by Stephen Colbert:

Part One: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QinPRrjYCKM&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcrowdog66%2Elivejournal%2Ecom%2F

Part Two: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSganaDFceM&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcrowdog66%2Elivejournal%2Ecom%2F

Now I can show it to all my friends! Which is wonderful, because more people should really be exposed to it.

I also found images of a cat who, at one point, had an even worse day than the one I'm currently having:

http://files.kavefish.com/pictures/collections/cat_bath/_index-list.html

The poor little fellow has an expression that says, so clearly: "Stop taking pictures and HELP ME! An atrocity is being COMMITTED! I haaaaaaaaate WATER!"

(Yes, he's having a bath. It's clearly being given quite gently, but still... awwwwwww!)

Both of those things made me smile on a day when smiles come pretty dear. :-)

What made me smile was when I realized all the hardware in the computer I'm working on was fine and it was only the files on the harddrive that were corrupted. Now I should be able to reformat the drive and reinstall all the software without too much of a hitch.

lol That's cute. My little grandson made me smile today. When he accomplishes something he claps for himself and gets this big adorable grin from ear to ear. He's 17 months.

I enjoyed some of the amusing usernames and avatars on R&S today. "Hot Carl [sic] Childers" is obviously inspired by "Hot Carl Sagan."
