I had a mole burned off today. They injected the area with Novacaine and then cut it and burned it. I forgot to ask the doctor a few questions.

Am I supposed to keep the bandaid on or is it not a neccessity? When should I remove it?
I was also wondering if the soreness on my thighs and buttocks are from the novacaine? The mole was on my chest area.

The only reason you have the band-aid on is that the cauterized
area may ooze a little. I would take it off tomorrow and have a look. If it's not oozing or raw looking, and the wound is completely closed, there's no need for the band-aid. Be careful when showering, I wouldn't scrub that area. You just want to make sure nothing disturbs the healing process. I would change the band-aid daily if oozing. As far as the sorenesss, I don't think it's from the lidocaine (probably what they used). It wouldn't travel that far and there wasn't enough for it to cause a problem even if it could. Hope this helps.

I had the same thing done to a mole on my scalp, they didn't put a band aid on it because it wouldn't have stuck coz of my hair. It just scabbed over and eventually the scab fell off. So i would say that the plaster could be removed, but you may as well leave it on for a few days to protect it. It might be painful, also it will stop any infection getting in. The soreness in you buttocks etc could be muscle pain if you were tensing a lot during the removal??

Do whatever with the bandaid - now this is no longer a mole, it is like a regular minor abrasion. (I remembered to ask. lol) Let it heal and don't disturb it if you want avoid scarring.

I don't know about the buttocks related to novocaine. More likely, you were scared to death during this minor procedure, this is why your buttocks got tired.

I'd suggest you call your doctor's office and ask them those questions.
